ABOUT US

Welcome to Clipjoint Hair Collective — where Cut & Colour meets Confidence & Community. We’re more than a salon; we’re a creative, inclusive space dedicated to celebrating your individual style.

Founded in the 1970s by Mark Walker in a basement on High Street, Clipjoint has helped shape some of Christchurch’s most creative stylists. Rapid growth saw the salon move to Colombo Street, and in 1990 Jill took ownership with two partners, renaming it Clipjoint & Co before becoming sole owner in 1999. Under Jill’s leadership, Clipjoint became a true Christchurch institution.

After the 2011 Christchurch earthquake, the team regrouped and reopened in Addington just months later — stronger than ever. In October 2024, ownership passed to Kirsty, marking the next chapter for Clipjoint, while Jill continues behind the chair serving her many loyal clients.

Today, Clipjoint Hair Collective continues that legacy with fresh energy, passion, and a commitment to exceptional hairdressing. Now based in our modern Addington salon, we’ve created a warm and welcoming space where our clients can feel comfortable, understood, and truly cared for.

Our philosophy is simple: cut, colour, confidence, community, and care.

We specialise in beautiful, healthy hair through expert colour work and precision cutting — creating personalised looks designed around your features, lifestyle, and individual style. Every appointment is a collaboration, supporting you through every stage of your hair journey.

Kirsty

Owner / Senior Stylist

Hairdressing has always been my passion, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. After being part of the Clipjoint team for 12 years, I was proud to take the next step and become the owner of a salon I already loved.

I’m passionate about creating a supportive environment for our team, with a strong focus on ongoing training, education, and keeping our skills at the highest level.

What I love most about Clipjoint is the people — our talented team and the amazing clients we get to look after every day. My goal is for every client to feel welcome, comfortable, cared for and completely themselves, while receiving consistent high-quality hairdressing services.

I love Family adventures with my husband, two girls and two dogs.

I’ve been hairdressing for 6 years and completed the final year of my apprenticeship here at Clipjoint. I love transforming hair and seeing the confidence it brings my clients. Creating beautiful, personalised hair and making people feel amazing is what I love most about being a stylist.

In my weekends I love spending time with my family and partner and shopping!
