WHO ARE WE?
From small beginnings to the Christchurch earthquakes, we've come a long way - here's just a little bit about us...
From humble beginnings in a basement on High Street, Clipjoint was founded in the 1970's by Mark Walker and in that time we've helped produce some of Christchurch's most creative and talented stylists.

With a loyal and happy clientele we quickly outgrew our first salon and moved into premises on Colombo Street - opposite the old Johnson's grocery.

"We spent many happy years in this place and really became part of the fabric of the area".

Jill took ownership of the salon with two partners in 1990, renaming it 'Clipjoint & Co', before becoming sole owner in 1999.

In that time, Jill and the team have built the Clipjoint name into a bit of a Christchurch institution.
...and then there was Feb 22nd 2011 - the big Christchurch earthquake.

"We were into the busy lunchtime period when the quake hit and were trapped inside for a while until our hero, (you know who you are!), could bash down a door and lead us all out to safety".

"It was a tough few months recovery but we're a determined bunch and everybody chipped in together to get us open again as quickly as possible. We found a great little spot in Addington and in April 2011 we were back on our feet again - stronger than ever".

Now in a beautiful, funky and intimate boutique salon, we look forward to you being part of our future...

Talking of the future...
In October 2024, Kirsty took over the Clipjoint business. After more than 50 years of hairdressing, Jill took the decision to hand over the business to the next generation.
She won't be hanging up her scissors anytime soon though and will continue to serve her loyal customers for many years to come - excited by what the future holds for Kirsty in her new role!
